West Los Angeles, California: A man who was gravely injured in a fire at the Barrington Plaza Apartments last week has died from smoke inhalation and burns.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, 19 year old Jeremy Bru died of complications from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the fire broke out shortly after 8:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 on the 6th floor inside a high rise apartment building at the Barrington Plaza Apartments located at 11740 Wilshire Boulevard.
At least 11 people were treated after the fire, including 7 people for smoke inhalation, and a 3 month old child; there was no updated word on their conditions.
According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, two firefighters received minor burns as they scrambled to reach the apartment where the blaze began using bottled oxygen.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
