Breaking News: West Los Angeles, CA: Fire at the Barrington Plaza Apartments.

West Los Angeles, California: A fire occurred on the 6th floor inside a high rise apartment building at the Barrington Plaza Apartments located at 11740 Wilshire Boulevard.

Multiple fire department agencies have responded, including firefighters from the Los Angeles City Fire Department and Santa Monica Fire Department, and at least 4 fire department helicopters from Los Angeles City Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have responded.

The high rise apartment building was evacuated, including roof top rescues by helicopters off of the building.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, they were 11 patients in total including a 3 month old, and no fatalities.

Among the 11 patients, there was 7 patients were transported and 4 were treat and release.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, there was at least 2 firefighters who suffered some burns as they battled the fire.

A resident was rescue from the 6th floor of the the Barrington Plaza Apartments building where the fire was burning by firefighters on a hook and ladder truck.

At latest 15 people were removed by Los Angeles City Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopters from the rooftop of the Barrington Plaza Apartments building.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the fire was knocked down as of 9:56 a.m. PT, and arson investigators are here investigating this fire.

The Los Angeles City Police Department is helping in the investigation on this fire along side arson investigators.

According to the Los Angeles City Police Department, nobody is in police custody.

The fire at the Barrington Plaza Apartments occurred at 8:37 a.m. PT as firefighters were at the Wells Fargo Bank building near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Federal Avenue, which started at 6:30 a.m. PT.

No confirmation as of yet if this fire at the Barrington Plaza Apartments is related to the earlier fire at the Wells Fargo Bank building.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, arson investigators are also investigating the earlier fire.

The Los Angeles City Police Department said an estimated 100 to 150 people were unable to return to their homes, and some were receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Barrington Plaza Apartments was built in 1961, was completed in 1962, has 386-units in the building and was the largest privately built apartment development in the western United States.

The Barrington Plaza Apartments has a history of a fire back on October 18th, 2013, which that fire injured at least eight people, displaced dozens of residents and caused millions of dollars in damages.

Residents of the Barrington Plaza Apartments telling local news media that the building didn’t have any fire sprinklers, which Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey confirmed during a news conference that the building didn’t have fire sprinklers at the time of today’s fire.

According to Zillow website, the Barrington Plaza Apartments has studio, one- and two-bedroom units, with rents varying from $2,350 per month to $3,695 per month.

Also, according to the AirBnB website, website shows the apartment complex listed under “Santa Monica” location not West Los Angeles, with words like “Luxury,” “Ocean View” and “Penthouse” in descriptions, and pictures which shows the Barrington Plaza Apartments.

Residents of the Barrington Plaza Apartments telling local news media that those types of rentals, like AirBnB rentals, aren’t allowed.
