Needles, California: ZachNews recently spoke to applicant Kirsten Carol Merritt who has applied to fill vacant seat as a member of the Needles City Council.
Kirsten talks about her background, why she applied to be on the Needles City Council and her goals if voted to be on the Needles City Council.
Back on Tuesday, December 17th, 2019, members of the Needles City Council accepted Clayton Hazlewood’s resignation during their meeting, and voted to advertise to fill the current vacancy; with the deadline being Tuesday, January 7th, 2020.
The applications received by the Needles City Clerk as of Tuesday, January 7th, 2020 include Kirsten Carol Merritt as well as Louise Evans, Ruth Musser-Lopez, Shawn O’Brion, Robert Savant and Gerald Telles.

Interviews and appointment to the remainder of Hazlewood’s term will occur during the Needles City Council, Needles Public Utility Authority and Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting, schedule for 6:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 inside the Needles City Council Chambers, located at 1111 Bailey Avenue near J Street.
