Needles, CA: Ribbon cutting ceremony held for the rehabilitation of the Needles Recreation Center.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday, December 6th, 2019 for the rehabilitation of the Needles Recreation Center at 1705 J Street in Needles, California.
Improvements were made to the ceiling, walls and floor of the gymnasium area, all done with money from a Community Development Block Grant and the San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood.
Needles Recreation Center Gymnasium in Needles, California was built in 1972.
Phase 1 of the project included removing and replacing the sound proofing material, patched and painted inside the gymnasium. Construction was done by Redmond Construction at the cost of $107,040.
Phase II of the project included removing the old lighting and replacing lighting with LED fixtures. Construction was done by Robinson Electric at the cost of $40,647.
Phase III of the project included removing the old vinyl flooring and replacing with a pour in place gymnasium floor. Construction was done by Geary Floors, product cost $106,620.
Total project cost was $254,307, which includes the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) advanced $168,389 of the County’s allotment to be paid back over the next 4 years.
Officials for the City of Needles, staff and crew from the Needles Recreation Center, San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood and members of the Needles Chamber of Commerce were present at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
