Needles, CA: Family, friends and community gathered at Nikki Bunch Memorial Field for candlelight vigil for Joseph “Jo Jo” Garcia.

A candlelight vigil was held on Friday, November 15th, 2019 at Nikki Bunch Memorial Field in Needles, California for Joseph Garcia.

Joseph Garcia, also known by many in the community as “Jose Garcia,” “Joe” and “Jo Jo”, passed away at Colorado River Medical Center on the night of Thursday, November 14th, 2019 after having a health related emergency near the restroom area at Nikki Bunch Memorial Field in Needles, California.

Family, friends and many in the community came together on the baseball field, where Joe would umpire games and where Joe was as he was working that night at a Needles Recreation Department’s flag football game.

The candlelight vigil was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook.

From Joe’s older brother and his sister, to friends George DeLeon and Zachary Lopez, all spoke about how Joe and what he did for everybody in the community, always helping others and loved to get involved in the community especially sports.

A fund has been set up for donations toward Joseph Garcia burial expenses.

People can make checks payable to St. Ann Catholic Church, P.O. Box 190, Needles, California 92363, and write in the memo section, “Jose Garcia Memorial Fund.”
