Needles, CA: Come to the 43rd Annual Fort Mojave Indian Days parade and continuing celebration today.
The Fort Mojave Indian Tribe will be having a parade on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 as part of the continuing celebration for the 43rd Annual Fort Mojave Indian Days.
Starting at 10:00 a.m. PT, a parade will occur eastbound along West Broadway, from I Street to D Street, in Downtown Needles, California.
The parade will have marching bands, floats, bird dancers, vehicle entries and more.
The parade is very well-attended so arrive early for the best seating along the parade routd.
Motorists should be prepared for street closures along the parade route.
Streets will begin to close between 8:00 a.m. PT for Front Street for Set Up and Take Down parade areas, and at around 9:00 a.m. PT along the parade route.
** Parade Street Closures: **
– West Broadway from J Street to D Street
– Front Street from North K Street to H Street (Parade Set Up Area) and from D Street to A Street (Parade Take Down Area)
– I Street from Front Street to West Broadway
– D Street from West Broadway to Front Street
Motorists will be detoured onto J Street to Third Street, then onto either D Street or C Street to get around the street closures or motorists can also use Interstate 40 from J Street to East Broadway.
Motorists should avoid the North K Street Underpass near the staging area for the beginning of the parade for possible closure there, use Needles Highway and West Broadway as a detour around the underpass.
The Fort Mojave Indian Days parade will be broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook starting at 10:00 a.m. PT.
The parade is part of the Fort Mojave Indian Days celebration, which will continue with activities and entertainment in the California Village area, at 500 Merriman Avenue in Needles, California.
There will be games, activities, vendors, food, entertainment and more, all teaching and celebrate the history, customs and traditions of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe.
Some of the activities and entertainment included royalty pageant; baby pageant; men’s bird singing and women’s bird dancing contests; culture workshops; frybread eating contest; nature walk; and tournaments for youth male shinny, wahoo, golf, tug-o-war, horseshoes and peon.
The celebration there is free and opened to the public.
