A memorial balloons will be released on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 at Veterans Memorial Park in Bullhead City, Arizona in remembrance of Phillip Gerard Johnson.
Phillip Gerard Johnson was born in Pleasant Hill, MO on October 23, 1948 to Lee Noble and Helen Johnson.
He was one of fourteen children. In March 1967, at the age of eighteen, he joined the United States Navy and went on to serve two tours during the Vietnam War as an Aircraft Mechanic.
He served on the USS Enterprise. During his service, he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
During his time in the Navy, he met his wife, Maryanne, in 1970 and they were married in Minden, NV in 1972. He was discharged from the Navy in May of 1974 after seven years.
He went to work in the oil fields in Southeast Texas during the 1970’s and moved around quite a bit.
In 1984, he moved to Laughlin, NV to work at the Mohave Generating Station for Flyash Haulers, Inc. He worked there until it closed in 2005. During this time, he also worked as the heavy equipment operator for the SCORE Race, including the Laughlin Leap.
Phillip passed away at his home with his family on August 30th, 2019 in Bullhead City, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Maryanne, and their daughter, Marianne Milbrandt (Adam C).
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Gregory (Trisha), Wesley (Mica), Pebbles (Jared), Adam, James, Luke, and Logan as well as his great-grandchildren: Hannah, Angel, Mandy, Grace, Desmond, and one on the way.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed dearly by all those who knew him and loved him.
The memorial balloon releasing will take place at sunset, at around 5:53 p.m. MST on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 434 Whitewater Drive in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Anyone who knew him is welcome to come, can bring balloons they but there well be some balloons there for the releasing.
