Needles, CA: Celebrating Needles High School’s Homecoming Week 2019.

Needles High School in Needles, California is having several activities and events related to Homecoming Week 2019.

ZachNews just received the latest homecoming week activities and events information from Dr. Mary M. McNeil, Ph.D., Superintendent at Needles Unified School District

Regarding the annual bonfire; early this week the bonfire, which is a school and community traditional, was unsure if it would happen this year.

But late Tuesday, ZachNews received confirmation from the Needles City Manager and Needles Unified School District that the permits were approved, and the traditional bonfire is still on for this year’s homecoming week.

  • On Wednesday, October 2nd 2019:

A junior varsity football game with Needles High School and River Valley High School River Valley High School has been changed, is not happening today.

  • On Thursday, October 3rd, 2019:

For Needles High School students, Spirit Day will be “Ohana Thursday” (Hawaiian) and the Nutrition Game will be Limbo.

The Mustang Drive will start at 5:30 p.m. PT at the big dirt lot, near G Street and West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California. The exact route varies each year; if you want to cheer for the Mustang Drive, it’s best to line up near the Needles High School parking lot, located near the intersection of Park Avenue and Highland Avenue. Motorists should use caution well driving along the stated routes.

Following the Mustang Drive’s arrival, the Community Pep Rally inside the gymnasium at Needles High School, located at 1600 Washington Street in Needles, California. The rally will begin at around 6:00 p.m. PT. There will be a performances by the Mustang Cheer Team and Mustang Band, games that students, staff and community can get involved in, and possibly a guest speaker.

After the Community Pep Rally, the annual Bonfire will happen on a hilltop, just north of Needles High School’s Branigan Field. Please be advise that the bonfire will be visible to the surround area, including Interstate 40. Please do not stop along the interstate, come on by with you Mustang Pride and Sprite.

  • On Friday, October 4th, 2019:

For Needles High School students, Spirit Day will be “Blue and White” and the Nutrition Game will be a Fruit Roll Up Eating Contest.

A School Pep Rally will happen at 11:25 a.m. PT inside the gymnasium at Needles High School.

Later, the Homecoming Royalty Coronation Ceremony will start at 1:00 p.m. PT inside the auditorium at Needles High School, located at 1600 Washington Street in Needles, California.

After the Homecoming Royalty Coronation Ceremony, a Homecoming Parade will start between 1:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. PT. The route for the Homecoming Parade will be along Highland Avenue eastbound, L Street northbound and to West Broadway eastbound ending at D Street in Downtown Needles, California. Motorists planning to uses any of the stated streets should be prepared for traffic to be stopped briefly for the Homecoming Parade.

Later, Needles High School will be playing against Pinecrest in a junior varsity volleyball game at 4:00 p.m. PT and a varsity volleyball game at 5:00 p.m. PT inside the gymnasium at Needles High School, located at 1600 Washington Street in Needles, California.

Afterwards volleyball, Needles High School Mustangs will be playing against Lincoln County Lynx at 7:00 p.m. PT on Branigan Field at Needles High School, located at 1600 Washington Street in Needles, California. Floats and Homecoming Royalty will be welcomed onto the football field during halftime.

  • On Saturday, October 5th, 2019:

The Homecoming Dance themed “Once Upon a Homecoming Dance” will happened from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. PT inside the El Garces Train Depot in Downtown Needles, California.
