El Cajon, CA: News helicopter shared by multiple television news outlets crashed at Gillespie Field.

A news helicopter shared by multiple television news outlets crashed at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, California on Tuesday, August 27th, 2019 after returning from a routine flight.

According to the Santee Fire Department, the incident was reported at 2:09 p.m. PT when the news helicopter began to have difficulty with its landing.

After landing, the news helicopter tipped on its side at Gillespie Field, and a small fire started, possibly sparked by a fuel leak.

Firefighters from the Santee Fire Department responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

A HAZMAT team was called in to help assist with the fuel leak and clean up.

The news helicopter, referred to as “Chopper 8” by CBS affiliate KFMB Channel 8, is branded with the News 8 logo on its sides and is operated by a third party and shared by five San Diego, California base news media outlets, including ABC affiliate KGTV Channel 10, NBC affiliate KNSD Channel 7, and Fox affiliate KSWB Channel 5.

The video and/or live broadcast feed are shared by multiple news outlets; sharing one news helicopter to bring the people the news.

News Helicopter Reporter Jo Eager was identified as one of the two individuals on the chopper at the time of the crash landing.

Reports that Jo Eager was transported to the hospital with minor injures.

The FAA and NTSB will investigate the news helicopter crash.

The NTSB is the lead agency and it typically takes the NTSB a year or more to determine a probable cause of an accident.

News helicopter reporter Deb Henke posted on Twitter a message regarding the news helicopter crash and we’ll wishes for Jo.

“Many thanks to all who’ve reached out today. I wasn’t in the chopper, my dear friend and colleague Jo was. Minor injuries and she is doing fine. Our pilot is fine too. Not able to say more, but we all appreciate your well wishes,” tweeted Deb Henke (@CopperDeb).
