Breaking News!!: Laughlin, NV: Fire burning at Big Bend State Park.
A fire is burning at Big Bend State Park, located at 4420 Needles Highway, in Laughlin, Nevada.
The fire started at before 1:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, August 18th, 2019.
Mohave Valley Fire Department along with Bullhead City Fire Department, Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and Oatman Fire Department assisted Clark County fire with a rapid moving fire.
Reports that the fire has jumped Needles Highway and the fire has burned power poles to come down along Needles Highway.
People are being evacuated from the park and the beach area.
At this moment reports that a bathroom structure has burned and flames are getting near an entry kiosk to the park.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol has closed both directions of Needles Highway from Aha Macav Parkway to the West Casino Drive.
As of 7:00 p.m. PT, firefighters are continuing to put out flames from the fire.
A water dropping plane has been dropping fire retardant on the fire and line crews are arriving to help stomp out the fire from spreading.
The fire has not jumped the Colorado River into Bullhead City, Arizona but the fire did jumped Needles Highway.
At this moment, no residential, retail or casinos are threaten by the fire at Big Bend State Park.
Nevada Power crews are on scene inspecting damage after the fire burned a few power poles and lines.
At this moment, no injuries are being reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
