Needles, CA: Needles City Manager talks about when repairs will be begin along the crumbling and bumpy Needles Highway.
As you have all noticed driving north along Needles Highway in Needles, California, the roadway has been getting a little more bumpy lately.
Years and years, the roadway has continued to show large, cracks potholes, fading lines along some parts of the roadway and crumbling shoulders from storms well motorists traveling through town or north towards Laughlin, Nevada hold on to their steering wheel as like they’re on a rollercoaster ride.
The community has wait long for this roadway to get funding to repair the roadway before it gets worse or leads to a major wreck.
So what is happening to Needles Highway and when is it going to be repaired, ZachNews recently asked Needles City Manager Rick Daniels about what’s going on regarding repairing this heavy traveled roadway.
“The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors voted to award the construction contract for the North Needles Reconstruction from the Freeway Interchange to Park Lane segment at their meeting last Tuesday. The County has notified the City that it expects the contractor to begin construction in late August (2019) with completion by late January (2020),” said Needles City Manager Rick Daniels.
Well the news sounds promising, this has been said before by the County of San Bernardino that the roadway was going to begin repairs, delayed by either funding or finding the right crews to work on the project.
Until then, we all wait and hold on tight, hoping that this time the roadway will get repair as the County of San Bernardino said they will start giving us all a smooth and safe drive along our beautiful Colorado River roadway.
