A shootout between an armed suspect and law enforcement occurred on Monday, August 12th, 2019 in Riverside, California.

The shootout was reported at around 5:35 p.m. PT in the area of Box Springs Boulevard and Eastridge Avenue, near Interstate 215.
According to the Riverside Police Department, a California Highway Patrol officer conducted a traffic stop and the suspect produced an assault rifle and began firing.

California Highway Patrol officers fired back at the armed suspect, and was struck at the scene and later died.

The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that one California Highway Patrol officer in the shootout has died.

Officials later confirmed the identity of the fallen officer as 34 year old Officer Andre Moye.

The body of Officer Andre Moye was taken from the Riverside University Health System Medical Center to the Riverside County coroner’s office Monday night.
The two surviving officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and remain hospitalized.
There’s reports that two civilian may have been hit by flying glass or shrapnel during the shootout.
