Las Vegas, NV: City of Needles Officials attended the International Council of Shopping Centers’ RECon 2019.
Officials with the City of Needles attended the International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) RECon 2019 held from Sunday, May 19th, 2019 to Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The International Council of Shopping Centers’ (I.C.S.C.) RECon 2019 is the largest global gathering of retail and real estate professionals, developers, owners and brokers for the City of Las Vegas, bringing together 40,000+ people and 12,000 booths displayed inside the Las Vegas Convention Center.
For the second year, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez attended the convention to find out what officials with the City of Needles are doing to bring new business and retails to our small Route 66 community by the Colorado River.
The City of Needles was represented by Needles City Council Members Shawn Gudmundson and Timothy Terral, Development Services Director Patrick Martinez and Mr. Michael Bracken, DMG Economics and City of Needles’ Economic Development Consultant.
Officials with the City of Needles walked over 26 miles over the four days during the convention, meeting with various retailers to attract them to Needles, California.

According to the City of Needles, a total of 15 meetings were scheduled during the convention, this isn’t counting the many meetings out inside the convention halls with other businesses and retailers.
During the convention, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez spotted Needles City Council Member Timothy Terral talking to several businesses regarding improvements to local parks and recreation area in Needles, California.
Needles City Council Member Timothy Terral was informed of two booths that were marketing miniature golf courses and splash pads as well as ice skating surface rings.
The City of Needles has been accepting ideas related for Park and Recreation Grants, and many in the community have been requested to have a splash pad either at their local pool or park.
ZachNews has learned that the discussion was very productive and hopeful, and the information obtained during the meeting with these booths were passed along to those working on the Park and Recreation Grants for the City of Needles.
According to the City of Needles, overall our recruitment efforts are geared toward a combination of retailers/hoteliers, developers and retail tenant representatives (real estate brokers that work directly for retailers).
