Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Vegetation fire along westbound Interstate 40.
A vegetation fire occurred along westbound Interstate 40 just before the West Broadway (Exit 141) in Needles, California.
The vegetation fire started around 1:45 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 30th, 2019.
The vegetation fire could be seen from along Interstate 40 as well as from Race Street, Bush Street and T Street.
Multiple fire department agencies personnel responded to the vegetation fire including San Bernardino County Fire Department from Needles, California and Twentynine Palms, California as well as Mohave Valley Fire Department.
A resident near Bush Street at T Street was evacuated.
California Highway Patrol as well as California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) briefly closed the right lane of westbound Interstate 40 as firefighters battled the vegetation fire for about an hour before containing the vegetation fire.
Utility crews from the city of needles as well as communication cruise from frontier communications and Golden Valley cable responded to check on their infrastructures and to make sure to make any repairs if needed related to the vegetation fire.
Approximately 5 acres were burned in the vegetation fire.
The cause of the vegetation fire is under investigation.
