Members of the Needles City Council on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019 unanimously voted to approve increases in rates for solid waste and recycling handling services in Needles, California.

The voted occurred after a Proposition 218 public hearing was held during tonight’s Needles City Council Meeting regarding a proposed contractual changes with Republic Services, Inc., also known to the City of Needles as Allied Waste Transportation, Inc. or “Allied”, to meet state mandates for recycling.

After public comments and discussion, two votes were held by members of the Needles City Council on this agenda item: Urgency Ordinance No. 613-AC amending Ordinance No. 481-AC and Ordinance No. 531-AC, both of which relate to an exclusive franchise agreement with Allied Waste Transportation, Inc. for the collection and handling of solid waste (introduced and adopted – effective immediately after adoption – rates effective April 1, 2019), and Ordinance No. 614-AC amending Ordinance No. 481-AC and Ordinance No. 531-AC, both of which relate to an exclusive franchise agreement with Allied Waste Transportation, Inc. for the collection and handling of solid waste (1st reading – post).

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve Urgency Ordinance No. 613-AC amending Ordinance No. 481-AC and Ordinance No. 531-AC, both of which relate to an exclusive franchise agreement with Allied Waste Transportation, Inc. for the collection and handling of solid waste (introduced and adopted – effective immediately after adoption – rates effective April 1, 2019).

Members of the Needles City Council than unanimously voted to approve Ordinance No. 614-AC amending Ordinance No. 481-AC and Ordinance No. 531-AC, both of which relate to an exclusive franchise agreement with Allied Waste Transportation, Inc. for the collection and handling of solid waste (1st reading – post).
