Needles, CA: New bus stop shelters, benches and signage installed for the Needles Area Transit.
The City of Needles have recently installed new bus stop shelters and benches in Needles, California area for the Needles Area Transit.
Cheryl K. Sallis with the City of Needles tells ZachNews that Western Construction Specialists Inc. installed the bus stop shelters, including in front of the San Bernardino County Public Library and the Dollar General store.
Along with the new bus stop shelters and benches, new signage has also been installed showing when the bus arrival times making it easier for riders to catch the bus on time.
According to Cheryl K. Sallis, the new bus stop improvements were paid for with a mix of funding from Transportation Development Act (TDA), State Transit Assistance (STA) and air quality (AB 2766) funds.
The concrete work was $101,013 and the shelters/benches were $76,512, for a total contract price of $177,525.
At this moment, there are no plans to replace the old bus stop shelters in the community which were first installed back in 2002, but Cheryl K. Sallis tells ZachNews that the eventual plan is to have a shelter/bench at every stop as funding allows.
The Needles Area Transit bus service takes passengers around the community of Needles, California, from the Needles Towne Center to the east, to Rio Del Sol hotel to the west and to the San Bernardino County Public Library and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station to the south.
