– Agenda Item #A: Incident Report(s):

During the Needles City Manager’s Report at the Needles Board of Public Utilities Meeting, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels announced a proposal Hampton hotel coming soon to our community of Needles, California (Start Video Above From Mark 39:33). Hampton by Hilton, formerly known as Hampton Inn, is a brand of hotels trademarked by Hilton Worldwide, and is a chain of moderately priced, upper mid-scale hotels with limited food and beverage facilities. Needles City Manager Rick Daniels said the location of the proposal Hampton hotel will be in an empty lot off Needles Highway and O Street, next to the River City Pizza Company, in Needles, California.

In an email to ZachNews, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels said, “For over a year the City has been working with a hotel developer to find a site for a new modern hotel. After pursuing multiple sites, he purchased two pieces of property from the City and a couple other privately owned parcels. We have visited a recently built hotel by the developer in Parker, AZ. After viewing many concepts, the City has now been approached with a more specific development plan. Site survey work has been undertaken. Architectural designs and site plans are being developed by the developer now. The proposal is to build a 3 story structure with 96 rooms costing approximately $10 M. The site is zoned for general commercial, so the property is properly zoned for a hotel. The developer is expecting to submit plans in a couple of months with plans to begin construction this summer. Specific development plans will be submitted for public hearings before the Planning Commission and the City Council.”

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels also spoke about who’s looking into coming into the Needles Towne Center as well as the latest on the marijuana industries around Needles, California, including the Lillyhill and M.I.H. facilities.
