News Update!!: Laughlin, NV: Fatal crash along eastbound Nevada State Route 163 takes the life of a man from Mohave Valley, Arizona.
ZachNews has just received more information regarding a fatal crash that occurred along eastbound Nevada State Route 163 just west of Laughlin, Nevada.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, shortly after 3:00 p.m. (PT) Monday, the driver in a dark red Toyota SUV with Canadian license plates was on eastbound Nevada State Route 163. The driver pulled into the rest area near mile marker 4 and made a u-turn in an attempt to head westbound on Nevada State Route 163. In doing a u-turn, the driver struck head on another vehicle traveling eastbound Nevada State Route 163. A lack of skid marks indicated that in an apparent attempt to avoid colliding, both drivers swerved. Unfortunately, they both swerved into the same direction. The driver of the second vehicle, a dark-colored Hyundai Accent, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol has confirmed that the driver of the dark-colored Hyundai Accent who was killed in the fatal crash was a male from Mohave Valley, Arizona.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a couple in the dark red Toyota SUV were both reportedly wearing seat belts was transported to area hospitals; a man was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC) in Bullhead City, Arizona with minor injuries well a woman was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada with serious injuries.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, both vehicles sustained major damage in the fatal crash along Nevada State Route 163, and the man from Mohave Valley, Arizona was not wearing his seat belt.
At this moment, no further information are available at this time, including the identities of those involved in the fatal crash, which would be release after next of kin had been notified.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said that the investigation into the fatal crash continues and charges against the driver of the dark red Toyota SUV are pending.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the driver was cooperative with NHP Troopers, voluntarily took a blood test and had no indication of impairment.
The fatal crash closed for hours eastbound Nevada State Route 163, sending motorists south towards Needles, California to get into Laughlin, Nevada.
