Needles, CA: Deputies arrested a woman from Eastover, South Carolina for Arson.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, at approximately 4:58 a.m. PT on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, deputies responded to the 2400 block of Needles Highway in Needles, California reference an arson.
While enroute to the location, deputies were advised a female subject had started a fire then assaulted staff.
The female, identified as 35 years old Latesha Smith from Eastover, South Carolina, left the location as deputies arrived.
Latesha Smith was contacted near the Best Western where she was taken into police custody without incident.
Latesha Smith was booked for Arson and transported to the Colorado River Station Jail for booking.
Due to medical reasons, Latesha Smith had to be transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where she is being held on $250,000.00 bail, pending a court hearing.
