Downtown Needles, CA: Receiving the gift of toys, bicycles, food, and God’s love during Set Free Church of Needles’ Christmas Toy Store and Bicycle Giveaway 2018.
Volunteers and members of Set Free Church of Needles held their 7th Annual Christmas Toy Store and Bicycle Giveaway 2018 on Sunday, December 23rd, 2018 inside the El Garces Train Depot in Downtown Needles, California.
A long line of people stretched down the street awaiting to get inside the room.
ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was their at the giveaway and broadcast live on Facebook the giveaway.
Before the giveaway started, George DeLeon from the Needles Chamber of Commerce and Society of St. Vincent de Paul attended the giveaway as well as Needles City Manager Rick Daniels showing their support for the giveaway.
An estimated 400 people came out to the giveaway where they were welcomed to uplifting music by the Set Free Church of Needles Band as well as the word of God on giving back to the community and watching over their community when people are in need of help.
Before the bicycles giveaway, kids sang “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way” well down the way, volunteers and members of Set Free Church of Needles were seen getting everything ready for the giveaway, including getting the over 60 bicycles ready for a raffle giveaway and preparing all of the toys and stuff animals at the toy store where parents went in and pick from tables and tablets of toys given and purchase to be given out to all the good boys and girls.
As their parents searched for the right toy and stuff animal to give as a gift, Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrived to the giveaway to take pictures with the good boys and girls.
Outside the room, food boxes were given out to families in need of a wonderful meal for the Christmas and holiday season.
ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez spoke with Pastor Martin Souter and his wife Cheree Souter from Set Free Church of Needles along with Mr. and Mrs. Claus about how the giveaway came out, who helped to give to the community and talking to all the children about what the Christmas and holiday season means not just to their family, but to their community.
Teaching the youth about giving back to the community was showed live and well during the bicycles raffle when a little girl won a new bicycle, but decide to donate the new bicycle back for another child to receive because she already had a bicycle; that child’s spirit of giving made the crowd cheer.
