Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Vehicle hits a kid in a crosswalk on J Street.

ZachNews is receiving reports of a kid being hit at a crosswalk along J Street in Needles, California.

The crosswalk is located between Nikki Bunch-Franz Flowers Park and both the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station and Needles City Council Chamber building.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez arrived to find police activity in the parking lot area near the crosswalk location.

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station in the parking lot area were seen talking in the parking lot area nearest to Bailey Avenue well an undercover patrol vehicle is parked along J Street near the crosswalk area where the incident happened before 1:00pm PT on Wednesday, November 21st, 2018.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels was at the Needles Recreation Center talking to management about what happened and provided ZachNews with the latest information regarding the incident.

According to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, “The report from the rec center manager is that there was 4 kids crossing the street in the crosswalk area when a car traveling in a slow speed hit one of the kids and he being assessed right now – his condition. The lady stopped and talked with the police, and so… the kid… I don’t know the medical status of the kid, but it doesn’t seem to be life threatening injuries but we’ll know later.”

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels also tells ZachNews that this incident is under investigation.

Kids usually walk after school use the crosswalk to walk to the Needles Recreation Center just around the corner from the crosswalk area.
