News Update!!: Joshua Tree, CA: Muddy mess and damage left behind from Friday night’s large storm.

People began cleaning up the mess left behind from a large storm that popped up and swept through the Joshua Tree, California area late night of Friday, October 12th, 2018.

Pictures from the California Highway Patrol’s Morongo Basin Station shows California State Route 62 still closed between La Contenta Road and Park Boulevard in Joshua Tree, California.

As ZachNews reported late Friday’s night, multiple reports of roadways being flooded and vehicles being stuck in flooded water were occurring during Friday night’s large storm.

There were also reports of swift water rescue that also occurred during Friday night’s large storm along with at least two transformers that caught on fire and emergency crews checking on residents who were having flooding going on near their homes.

The large storm also caused major damage to area roadways.

According to the Joshua Tree National Park, Friday night’s large storm caused major road damage in and around Joshua Tree National Park, and roads crew is currently assessing park roadways.

According to the Joshua Tree National Park, Pinto Basin Road as well as all dirt roads are currently closed, and if you use Park Boulevard today, drive carefully and slowly as there are stretches of mud and sand.

Joshua Tree National Park are asking visitors to please drive through the north entrance today as all dirt roads and the south entrance to Joshua Tree National Park remain closed as of Sunday, October 14th, 2018 for major road repairs.

According to the Joshua Tree National Park, the West Entrance is down to one lane and wait times may be long.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Morongo Basin Station, both directions of California State Route 62 in Joshua Tree, California are opened.
