Downtown Needles, CA: Elections 2018: Community hears from the candidates running for Needles City Mayor and Needles City Council during a candidates forum.

A candidates forum for Needles City Mayor and Needles City Council was held on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 inside the Community Hall at the El Garces Train Depot in Downtown Needles, California.

The candidates forum hosted and organized by the Needles Downtown Business Alliance, and gave the public the chance to ask questions to the candidates running for Needles City Mayor and Needles City Council in the General Elections being held on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.

Moderator George DeLeon asked the candidates questions that were submitted from the public on a variety of topics that effect or relate to the community.

In attendance to the candidates forum were current Needles Vice Mayor Jeff Williams who is running unopposed for Needles Mayor, and three of the five candidates running for the three seats on the Needles City Council were in attendance, including Zachery Longacre, Barbara L. Beard and Timothy Terral.

Current Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget M.D. and incumbent Needles City Council Member Louise Evans were the other two of the five candidates and who were not in attendance at the candidates forum.

Some of the big topics asked to the candidates during and after the candidates forum included: the City of Needles and if they should have its own police department; how to improve Downtown Needles, California and the whole community of Needles, California; how to fix local infrastructures in Needles, California related to roadways, water, wastewater and power; how to help the homeless in Needles, California; and marijuana tax refund for cannabis businesses opening and operating new non-cannabis businesses in Needles, California.
