There has been a deadly shooting during a Madden video game tournament at the Jacksonville Landing marketplace in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

The deadly shooting occurred on Sunday, August 26th, 2018.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, at least 2 people are dead and multiple injuries, and the shooting suspect is dead.

There are reports from the Associated Press that the suspected shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, no outstanding suspects, “there is one suspect dead.”

NBC affiliate WTLV Channel 12 and ABC affiliate WJXX Channel 25 reports Memorial Hospital had received at least 3 patients from the scene, all of whom are stable, but the extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

Video game company Electronic Arts tweeted that a shooting took place at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition.

GLHF Game Bar, a bar in Jacksonville Landing, had posted on its Facebook page that it was holding a Madden tournament Sunday afternoon.

NBC affiliate WTLV Channel 12 and ABC affiliate WJXX Channel 25 reports Multiple members of the online gaming community stopped playing on the live-streaming service Twitch to react to reports of the shooting. “I’m not playing right now. This is too upsetting,” gamer WalkerCLE said.

Authority are telling the public to stay away from the area as the investigation continues.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are en route to the scene, and the FBI’s Jacksonville field office is assisting in the investigation.

Electronic Arts Sports Madden NFL has posted on their official Twitter page, “We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville. We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage. This is a horrible situation, and our deepest sympathies go out to all involved.”
