Live Breaking News!!: Bullhead City, AZ: Power outage remains from Saturday evening’s storm.

Power remains out Sunday to much of the Bullhead City, Arizona and Fort Mojave, Arizona communities following Saturday evening’s storm.
According to the Mohave Electric Cooperative, monsoon storm causes widespread power outage throughout the service territory and crews are continuing to work on transmission lines damage.
Mohave Electric Cooperative said a probable microburst with severe lightning, high winds, heavy rain, and hail caused substantial damage to the electric system and widespread outages for their members and their major power and transmission provider sustained damage to their transmission line in the area of Bullhead Parkway and Laughlin Ranch Blvd.
Also, Mohave Electric Cooperative said the transmission line serves most of Bullhead City and portions of Fort Mohave; their subtransmission system was also damaged in the same area with several poles broken.
Mohave Electric Cooperative encouraged customers to call: 1 844-MEC-COOP (632-2667) to report an outage and also to receive updates on power restoration.
The Bullhead City Fire Department has posted on their Facebook page on what to do to protect yourself during a power outage:
– Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
– Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.
– Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
– If safe, go to an alternate location for cooling.
– Check on neighbors
– If medical attention is needed call 911
The City of Bullhead City and the American Red Cross have opened a cooling center at the Suddenlink Center, located at 2380 Suddenlink Way, just off Arizona State Route 95 between Second Street and Third Street, in Bullhead City, Arizona.
