Power restored to all customers with Mohave Electric Cooperative just 24 hours after a powerful storm knocked out power to thousands of customers in Bullhead City, Arizona and Fort Mojave, Arizona.

In case there are any Mohave Electric Cooperative members still without power, please call the utility provider’s outage reporting number at: 1 (844) 632-2667, and report their outage even if they did so earlier.

Thanks to all of the power crews for repairing power lines and restoring the power.

All but a single customer with Mohave Electric Cooperative have gotten their power restored just 24 hours after a powerful storm knocked out power to thousands of customers in Bullhead City, Arizona and Fort Mojave, Arizona.

According to the Mohave Electric Cooperative, power has been restored to all but 421 customers.

** As of 12:00pm PT on Sunday, August 12th, 2018: **

Power remains out Sunday to much of the Bullhead City, Arizona and Fort Mojave, Arizona communities following Saturday evening’s storm.

According to the Mohave Electric Cooperative, transmission lines and substations are back online, but there are scattered outages remaining that are affecting about 3,000 of their customers.

Meanwhile, Bullhead City Public Works Crews are cleaning to doing storm clean up after the community sustained damage at numerous parks and facilities.

Bullhead City Street Crews have also been clearing debris from city streets, clearing down tree limbs and general maintenance throughout the community.

If you would like to report a street that needs to be swept, a down tree or other hazard, please contact the Bullhead City’s Public Works Department at: 1 (928) 763-0128 beginning at 7:00am PT on Monday, August 13th, 2018.

If you see an immediate danger or hazard, please call 911.

The Bullhead City Fire Department CERT Team have opened a Public Assistance Site to provide emergency drinking water to the public at Fire Station 2, located at 1230 Arizona State Route 95, in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Bottled water is being provided by Mohave Electric Cooperative to customers effected by the power outage.

Also, the City of Bullhead City and the American Red Cross have opened a cooling center at the Suddenlink Center, located at 2380 Suddenlink Way, just off Arizona State Route 95 between Second Street and Third Street, in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Power remains out Sunday to much of the Bullhead City, Arizona and Fort Mojave, Arizona communities following Saturday evening’s storm.

According to the Mohave Electric Cooperative, monsoon storm causes widespread power outage throughout the service territory and crews are continuing to work on transmission lines damage.

Mohave Electric Cooperative said a probable microburst with severe lightning, high winds, heavy rain, and hail caused substantial damage to the electric system and widespread outages for their members and their major power and transmission provider sustained damage to their transmission line in the area of Bullhead Parkway and Laughlin Ranch Blvd.

Also, Mohave Electric Cooperative said the transmission line serves most of Bullhead City and portions of Fort Mohave; their subtransmission system was also damaged in the same area with several poles broken.

Mohave Electric Cooperative encouraged customers to call: 1 844-MEC-COOP (632-2667) to report an outage and also to receive updates on power restoration.

The Bullhead City Fire Department has posted on their Facebook page on what to do to protect yourself during a power outage:

– Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
– Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.
– Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
– If safe, go to an alternate location for cooling.
– Check on neighbors
– If medical attention is needed call 911

The National Weather Service continues to have issued a Flash Flood Warning continues for Bullhead City AZ, Fort Mohave AZ, Laughlin NV until 11:30pm PT.

Reports from the California Highway Patrol of a traffic hazard on U.S. Route 95 near the construction zone near Needles, California, but no further details on what is the traffic hazard.

ZachNews has learned there were over 62,000 Nevada Energy customers without power and at this time we do not have and estimated time for restoration.

ZachNews has received reports of windows damaged at the Riverside Resort and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada related to the storm as well as reports of damage at Community Park in Bullhead City, Arizona also related to the storm. Reports that wind gust were blowing over 60 mph during the storm.

ZachNews is receiving reports of complete power outage in Oatman, Fort Mohave, Bullhead City in Arizona, and in Laughlin Nevada.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Flood Advisory” until 11:00pm PT for Bullhead City, Arizona and Laughlin, Nevada area.

Reports into ZachNews of power outage in portions of the Bullhead City and Laughlin areas, including along Bullhead City Parkway, Desert Foothills and at Target, as well as in Fort Mohave, Arizona along Lipan Road and at the Walmart.

Thunderstorms appears to be moving west to southwest.

Lightning spotted east of Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

Be prepared in case of any gusty winds, blowing dust, moderate to heavy rain fall, hail, and thunder with lightning.
