News Update!!: Needles, CA: Remembering the life of Fidel Connacher during a candlelight vigil.
Family and friends gather at a candlelight vigil on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 to remember the life of 22 year old Fidel Connacher, who was struck by a train west of Needles, California on Friday, June 29th, 2018.
The candlelight vigil was held at River Edge Golf Course in Needles, California where he worked and being described as a great employee, first to greet guest with a welcome smile and helping with carrying their bags to and from their vehicle.
Family, friends and those who knew Fidel spoke about his smile and how be brighten up their day, including when he was in class when he went to Needles High School, and how much he loved golf.
According to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, Fidel was a member of the State Champion Needles High School Golf Team in 2014 as a senior, and was all-conference and second team all-state, and that’s an incredible accomplish from a kid from our community. He had true passion for the game.
Fidel was nominated for an honorary membership for the PGA of America, and well during the candlelight vigil, Dave Hiltabidel, golf pro at River Edge Golf Course, announced that Fidel will receive that honorary membership.
Dave Hiltabidel also mention that Fidel was going to become the be the next golf pro at River Edge Golf Course.
Family and friends mention how Fidel wanted to help the community by putting together a food drop off for people in the community, helping people who don’t have enough food or who are needing help getting food.
Dave Hiltabidel told the crowd that he hopes that his goal for a food drop off will happen by this in the community.
As a candlelight vigil draw to closed, a group picture of family, friends and the community was taken followed by everybody gathering up in a circle for a prayer, then the lit candles were placed in what golf holes on the putting green.
“Fidel was a giver, always thought about others, he’ll be terribly missed,” said Needles City Manager Rick Daniels.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner’s Division, “On Friday, June 29th, 2018, a 911 call was received at 4:37pm PT from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (B.N.S.F.) Railroad reporting a man was struck by a train on the tracks 1/2 miles east of Arrowhead Junction west of Needles. Emergency personnel responded to find Fidel Connacher, a 22 year old resident of Needles, dead at the scene.”
