Colorado River Tri-State: San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station’s Marine Enforcement Unit conducted Operation Dry Water 2018.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station’s Marine Enforcement Unit conducted it’s Operation Dry Water 2018 from Friday, June 29th, 2018 to Sunday, July 1st, 2018 along the Colorado River in the Colorado River Tri-State area.
Patrols including along the Colorado River near Jack Smith Memorial Park in Needles, California (Aerial Picture Above) and at Lake Havasu near Havasu Lake, California.
Operation Dry Water is a national year-round campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence.
The operation was conducted along the Colorado River from the California/Nevada state line to the Riverside County line as well as Spring Valley Lake in Victor Valley.
The majority of the operation was focused on the waterways with resorts, launch ramps and marinas along the river and lake.
A total of 10 patrol vessels, an OHV team, and one Sheriff’s Department helicopter were deployed throughout the area.
A total of 10 arrests made, all of which were for Boating Under the Influence.
There were 45 citations issued for various boating law violations along with seventy-two verbal warnings.
The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit urges all California residents to go online to: http://californiaboatercard.com and take the online test to obtain their boater card which is now required by law.
The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit is, as always, dedicated to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and reminds everyone to wear their life vests and to boat sober.
