News Update!!: Lake Havasu City, AZ: Vegetation fire contained and under investigation.
A vegetation fire that was burning near Lake Havasu City, Arizona and smoke seen for miles has been contained.
The vegetation fire started before 4:30pm PT on Friday, June 1st, 2018
at around 4:50pm PT, smoke from the vegetation fire was seen from Needles, California and captured on camera by ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A Lopez.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station posted these pictures of the fire and said “Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Units on scene of a vegetation fire on the Arizona shoreline south of Lake Havasu City.”
Lake Havasu City Fire Department, Bureau of Land Management (B.L.M.) hand crews and a helicopter were dispatched to the vegetation fire.
According to Lake Havasu City Fire Department, the vegetation fire was has been contained, burned less than 3 acres, and the cause is under investigation.
Reports that Bureau of Land Management (B.L.M.) crews were still at the site of the vegetation fire on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 mopping up and checking for any flare ups.
At this moment, no public roadways or waterways are closed related to the vegetation fire.
The vegetation fire comes as the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Safety issued earlier this week fire restrictions throughout the state of Arizona as the summer temperatures continue to rise.
