Needles, CA: Community comes together for Memorial Day Ceremony 2018.

The community came together to honor the people who’ve serviced in our military, law enforcement, and emergency responders during a Memorial Day ceremony held on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at the Needles Riverview Cemetery in Needles, California.

The Memorial Day Ceremony 2018 was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook.

The Memorial Day ceremony was led by ‘FatCat DJ’ Natalie Johnson and began with the the Pledge of Allegiance by Ethan Johnson and the singing of the National Anthems by Carrie Choquette and Nathan.

There were readings of names of deceased local veterans, law enforcement and emergency responders and speakers spoke about what this day is about.

Readings included City of Mayor Edward T. Paget MD; Fort Mojave Indian Tribe Chair Timothy Williams and Vice-Chair Shan Lewis; California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Medina and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Luis Valdez; United States Navy Recruiter Justin Rodriguez, Norma Jean Williams of the Needles Cemetery Advisory Commission; Kerry Otterstrom of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion, and Needles City Council Members Tona Belt.

Needles City Council Members Shawn Gudmundson was unable to make the ceremony and his reading of names was done by Needles City Council Members Tona Belt.

Needles City Council Members Tona Belt also read names for the San Bernardino County Fire Department who were responding to at least 2 reported fires in the Needles, California area.

The Memorial Day ceremony also feature the Fort Mojave Tribal Veterans will present the colors with Needles’ Scout Troops 58 and 104, and the Fort Mojave Indian Tribal Band with a special performance by the Fort Mojave Tribal Dancers led by April Garcia.
