Needles, CA: Walmart Supercenter brings delicious lunch to volunteers working on the new Ivan’s House.
Volunteers working on a new woman and children shelter in Needles, California called Ivan’s House were treated to a delicious lunch by Walmart Supercenter in Fort Mohave, Arizona on Thursday, May 17th, 2018.
Assistant Manager Carla, Personnel Department Tami and a mix of personal and supervisors from the Walmart Supercenter (Fort Mohave Supercenter #4203) brought out fried chicken, mash potato, pasta salsa, and bread to the volunteers who have been working on a new woman and children shelter ready for the community.
Jim Jones, Pastor of Firehouse Ministries, tells ZachNews, “We reached out Walmart to be a benefactor for us and Walmart said “Wow, we would like to know more about what you guys are doing” so they asked if they can come down and get to know us, that’s what they did today.”
The Walmart group got to tour the air conditioned house along Bush Street, and learn more about Ivan’s House.
“Ivan’s House is a woman and children shelter – short term to medium term stays anywhere from a day or two to 90 days, and hat were doing is we’re setting it up, we’re designing it to allow people to get their lives back in order. They will live here will their children, they will look for work, they will look for permanent housing and they will receive whatever care they can get from all of the other agencies and get their lives back in order,” Pastor Jim Jones with Firehouse Ministries tells ZachNews adding, “Our timeline we’re projecting in three months – I think this is very optimistic – probably go longer then that but that’s our timeline, three months to get the house not only livable, but presentable that way it’s something that people can come into and be very comfortable and be very sanitary and clean, and that’s the goal.”
The Walmart crew was thanked for bringing lunch to all of the volunteers working on the new Ivan’s House in Needles, California, even getting hugs by the kids of the church.
“People that have been helping us is No Bull A.C. (No Bull Air – Heating and Air Conditioning) they’ve been the ones who have now repaired the A.C. Companies that have donated to us: Nationwide Insurance – Arthur Horn right here in Needles, he’s been very generous to us. Desert River Automotive (Desert River Lube and Auto) have been very generous to us, Mike there. The Music Shop (The Music Store) in Fort Mohave with Bruce and his wife Sharon – very generous to us. Extreme Iron Fabrication (Extreme Iron Welding and Fabrication) Andy and his wife Dallas in Mohave Valley – very generous to us. And we are just continuing to look for benefactors to help us with this,” said Pastor Jim Jones with Firehouse Ministries.
Pastor Jim Jones with Firehouse Ministries thanked the good people from the Walmart Supercenter in Fort Mohave, Arizona for their act of kindness of a delicious lunch, and thanked all of the wonderful companies who have been very generous to us towards the new Ivan’s House.
