Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations executed federal search warrants on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 at Adelanto City Hall and the home of Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr in Adelanto, California.

Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr was detained by authorities, and seen being walked out of a home with men wearing “F.B.I.” vests.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations confirmed that federal search warrants were executed at the Adelanto City Hall and other locations, including a home in Adelanto, California, but declined to comment further because the affidavits in support of the warrants are under seal.

ABC affiliate KABC Channel 7 and the Daily Press, a daily newspaper published in Victorville, California, is reporting that a medical marijuana dispensary called the Jet Room was also raided.

Reports that the federal search warrants were executed today may be part of an ongoing public corruption probe in the City of Adelanto.

Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the United State Attorney’s Office, told The Associated Press that Internal Revenue Service investigators and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office were also involved.

As a result of the raid, Adelanto City Hall was temporary closed for the day on Tuesday.

Later, the City of Adelanto released the following statement saying, “This morning, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents executed search warrants at Adelanto City Hall and the home of Mayor Richard Kerr. As of this morning, the City is unaware of the nature of the FBI’s investigation. Nevertheless, the City remains prepared to cooperate with any investigation being conducted. In light of the foregoing events, City Hall will be temporarily closed for business today. The City anticipates being open for regular business hours tomorrow. The City Council wants to assure the public that the City will continue to focus its efforts on providing the services that residents and businesses expect. At the same time, the City will continue to work with law enforcement as their investigation proceeds.”
