Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Fiery sparks coming from an alleyway transformer.

Just before 11:00pm PT on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018, power went out for a few seconds before coming back on.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez began checking the area and discovered fiery sparks coming from a transformer along an alleyway between Rio Vista and Cortez Street, just west of Coronado Street, in Needles, California.

Utility crews from the City of Needles were spotted along the alleyway checking out the fiery sparks coming from a transformer.

Firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Station 32 were on scene as well as deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were monitoring the situation from along the 2000 block of Rio Vista.

Utility crews from the City of Needles will be working on the transformer problem overnight.

The cause of the fiery sparks from the transformer is not known, but in pass utility pole related fires, a mixture of pigeon poop build up, dust, and rain were blamed as the causes of those fires.

A few minutes before the fiery sparks on the transformer, rain was falling in Needles, California.
