Live News Alert!!: Needles, CA: Brush fire seen near railroad tracks was a training fire.

Black smoke seen along railroad tracks along Eagle Pass Road, west of L Street, in Needles, California at was a training fire done by the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

At around 6:37pm PT on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018, people living near Needles High School and at a softball game down the street from the schools began to see dark black smoke coming from the back of the schools.

Concerns over what was burning had some people calling 911 reporting of the fire, all unaware that this was a training fire.

San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Duty Public Information Officer Eric Sherwin tells ZachNews that this was a training fire, everything was under control, and no other properties were endanger.

As for the public not being informed of the training fire, San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Duty Public Information Officer Eric Sherwin tells ZachNews that they apologized for what happened.
