Needles City Council Member Louise Evans voted “No” on this agenda item. 

This building use to be the old Taco Bell fast food restaurant, which closed their doors permanently in Needles, California on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016.

Members of the Needles City Council voted 5-1 to approve the adding an outdoor patio deck at the 19th Hole Golf Course Concession.

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson voted “No” on the agenda item. 

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson tells ZachNews that he voted “No” on the action item because I do not agree with our taxpayer’s subsidizing the 19th Hole paying the utility bill.

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson also said that they are asking for an additional 1200 sq ft for the same terms.

The business, 19th Hole Bar and Grill, has been making improvements to their business since taking over the golf course concession area and will be paying for the new outdoor patio deck.

Discussion regarding an offer to purchase city owned surplus property, approximately 24.90 acres located east side of Parkway Street and south of Lillyhill Drive, APN 0185-233-65.

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to table the action item until the new bid comes in on the surplus property.

Needles City Council Member Clayton Hazlewood excused himself from the action item and didn’t vote on this agenda item. 

Needles City Attorney John Pinkney told the public that Needles City Council Member Clayton Hazlewood excused himself from the action item because Clayton Hazlewood’s father, “may be interested in purchasing the property”.

 Needles City Council Member Clayton Hazlewood responded saying, “That is correct”.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels spoke about still working with 2 hotels 

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels then spoke about the latest information regarding the abatement process for the Victory Drive property and the old Relax Inn Motel on Needles Highway. 

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels then spoke about bridge work to begin on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 on the Verde Shores Bridge near the Verde Shores Estates.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels then spoke about the old signage from the old Le Brun Motel and Laundromat, located along Needles Highway (Route 66) in Needles, California.

The old Le Brun Motel and Laundromat was knocked down on Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 to make way for a medical marijuana cultivation facility which members of the Needles City Council voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 2017-83, a Conditional Use Permit, for a medical marijuana cultivation and distribution facility on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017.

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson spoke about the hump crossing the Needles Bridge and maybe doing a temporary grind down of that hump on the approach to the Needles Bridge.  

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson also asked for an update of having the Dial A Ride to go across into Arizona for people who have no vehicle can go to the grocery store. 

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson also spoke about a new non profit organization for veterans called “Saints for Soldier” in Arizona.

Needles City Council Member Louise Evans spoke about going to a recycling meeting with Tom Darcy and what she learned from that meeting.

Tom Darcy go to talk about a compost recycling idea and building a garden near the Needles Senior Center.

Needles City Council Member Clayton Hazlewood spoke about the replacing of old power poles in residential areas and looking into how much the cost would be to maybe putting them underground. 

Needles City Council Member Clayton Hazlewood also spoke about the need for lighting along Lilyhill Drive.
