The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is mourning the death of Deputy Lawrence “Larry” Falce who succumbed to injuries he sustained from the violent attack on Sunday, December 31st, 2017.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce is remembered as an honorable man, who began his career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in 1981 as a deputy sheriff.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce started his career working in corrections at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center and the Central Detention Center.

The 36 year veteran worked patrol at Central Station for the past 32 years.

Before joining our department, Lawrence “Larry” Falce served his country in the Army.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce prided himself as being a lifelong public servant, who cared deeply about this profession.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce was loved by his peers and the community members he served.

More importantly, Lawrence “Larry” Falce cared about so many people he called family.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce is survived by his sister, Marjorie, and his girlfriend of many years, Deborah. He also leaves behind many extended loved ones.

ZachNews has learn that the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy died after being assaulted while off-duty following a traffic collision in his personal vehicle collision at 10:50 am PT on Sunday, December 31st, 2017 at the intersection of Kendall Drive and University Parkway in San Bernardino, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrence “Larry” Falce was involved in a collision with another person, and after the 2 drivers made contact with each other, the driver of the other vehicle allegedly struck Lawrence “Larry” Falce, causing severe injuries.

NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4 is reporting that Lawrence “Larry” Falce was trying to avoid dogs in the street, which nearby surveillance camera capture the moments before the vehicle collision.

Lawrence “Larry” Falce was hospitalized, but he died on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018.

The suspect involved in the fight was taken into police custody, but the suspect’s identity has not been released.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, we will not be releasing or confirming the identity of the suspect at this time due to the active investigation.

The San Bernardino Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation.

A procession to honor the deputy and accompany his body from Loma Linda Hospital to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner’s Office was held at 10:00pm PT.

Fellow deputies made a line from the hospital to the coroner’s van and stood solemnly as Lawrence “Larry” Falce’s body was wheeled out in a coffin draped with the American flag.

The procession moved slowly through surface streets to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner’s Office.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Employees Benefits Association stated on Facebook that it would pay for Lawrence “Larry” Falce’s funeral.
