Breaking News!!: Manhattan, NY: Pipe bomb explosion at a Port Authority Bus Terminal.
According to the New York Police Department, a pipe bomb explosion has occurred at the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan, New York on Monday, December 11th, 2017.
The pipe bomb that was reportedly affixed to the suspect with Velcro straps detonated at about 7:30am ET in a passageway between subway lines below ground.
The New York Police Department, New York Fire Department, and other first responders rushed to the scene of the pipe bomb explosion.
At least 3 people suffered minor injuries in the pipe bomb explosion.
According to the New York Police Department, a man was captured alive and is in police custody.
The New York Police Department identified the suspect as 27 year old Akayed Ullah with a last known address in Brooklyn, New York.
Authorities say Akayed Ullah was from Bangladeshi and has been in the United States of America for 7 years,
Akayed Ullah was reportedly injured in the arm and torso from the device that went off in his arms.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said, “This was an attempted terrorist attack. Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals.”
According to the New York Police Department, the bus terminal was temporarily closed after the pipe bomb explosion and is reopened.
The White House says United States of America President Donald Trump has been briefed on the pipe bomb explosion.
