Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve Agenda Items #7 through #12, and pulled Agenda Item #9 on the Consent Calendar.

Regarding Agenda Item #9, members of the Needles City Council agreed on 4 of the 5 proposed amendments in Ordnance 598-AC.

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve the proposed ordinance, adding language clarifying the city’s current position that commercial recreational marijuana is not permitted in the city, adopting regulations related to personal use cultivation, r.e. six plants per household, removing requirements that medical marijuana businesses be operated as a bonafide non-profit entity in line with new state law, and adding a definition clarifying that regulatory licenses means and includes all types of marijuana business license issued by the city these four were approved unanimously.

Members of the Needles City Council then discussed about the first amendment of Ordnance 598-AC separately which dealt with changing the minimum distance of medical marijuana cultivation, manufacturing, testing distribution and transportation faculties from 1,000 feet to 600 feet from a school, but kept the 1,000 foot restriction on dispensaries.

After discussion, members of the Needles City Council voted 4-2 to approve the change to the distance requirement from 1,000 feet to 600 feet.

Needles City Council Member Tona Belt and Needles City Council Member Robert Richardson, M.D. voted “No” on Agenda Item #9.
