Breaking News!!: Thornton, CO: Suspect arrested in a deadly shooting inside a Walmart.

A suspect has been arrested in a deadly shooting inside a Walmart in Thornton, Colorado on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 that killed 3 people.

According to the Thornton Police Department, at around 6:10pm MT, the suspect identified as 47 year old Scott Ostrem walked into the Walmart on Grant Street “nonchalantly” and opening fire randomly with a handgun on a group of people near the cash registers.

The suspect – described as wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a maroon shirt – fled in a red 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage with Colorado license plates.

Hundreds of emergency vehicles rushed to the Walmart and arrived to seen customers running out of Walmart in panic and families waited anxiously to reunite with their loved ones in the parking lot.

According to the Thornton Police Department, 2 men were killed and a woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.

The names of the 3 people who were killed have not been released,

In a statement, Walmart said they were deeply saddened by this tragic event, are assisting law enforcement, and that all of the store’s employees were accounted for and uninjured.

The Thornton Police Department received an anonymous tip regarding the deadly shooting, and issued a homicide warrant for his arrest and began a manhunt for the suspect.

According to the Thornton Police Department, Scott Ostrem was arrested on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 in the area of 72nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard during what police say was a “high-risk” traffic stop.

A SWAT team used a flash bang as distraction before arresting Scott Ostrem.

Before the arrest, authorities executed a search warrant of Scott Ostrem’s home in the 7100 block of Samuel Drive, but he wasn’t home at the time.

Investigators say they have no idea why Scott Ostrem allegedly opened fire, but investigators say the deadly shooting is not known to be an act of terrorism.

However, a spokesperson with the Thornton Police Department did refer to the deadly shooting as a heinous act.
