Traffic Update!!: Essex, CA: Eastbound Interstate 40 reopens after a semi truck hauling vehicles catches fire.
A semi truck fire hauling vehicles catches fire along eastbound Interstate 40, near Kelbaker Road, in Essex, California at around 4:45am PT on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire appears to have came from the tires of the semi truck that was approximately carrying 8 vehicles.
The fire engulfed the semi truck and at least 5 of the vehicles on the semi truck were burned.
Some near by grass along the interstate also caught on fire being haul on the semi truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the #2 lane of eastbound Interstate 40 remains closed, but was for a short time closed all lanes as California Department of Transportation crews along with tow crews worked to clean up and remove the burned debris.
According to the California Department of Transportation District 8, all lanes of eastbound Interstate 40 have been reopened just before 2:00pm PT.
