News Update!!: Ludlow, CA: Latest Information: Multiple vehicle collisions along Interstate 40 with deceased man lying across lanes.
ZachNews has just received the latest information regarding 2 separate vehicle collisions and a man lying across lanes along Interstate 40 in Ludlow, California that occurred on Monday, October 16th, 2017.
According to the California Highway Patrol – Barstow Area, at approximately 1:08am PT, a tractor trailer combination vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 40, at approximately 55 to 57 mph, approaching Ludlow, California when the driver observed an adult male lying on the roadway, face up, within the #1 and #2 lanes.
The driver swerved to the right, in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid colliding with the male lying in the roadway.
After the collision, the driver immediately pulled to the right shoulder and stopped.
He walked back towards the collision scene to pull the male from the roadway, however he was unable to do so.
The deceased is a 73 year old male residing in Lake Elsinore, California.
Additionally, a Volkswagen sedan, was parked on the right shoulder, approximately 1/8 of a mile east of the collision scene.
The Volkswagen had minor collision damage, including scratches and a flat tire; consistent with running off the roadway.
These 2 collisions are separate incidents and it is unknown why the male party was lying in the roadway.
Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
