Needles, CA: 41st Annual Fort Mojave Indian Days.
The 41st Annual Fort Mojave Indian Days will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2017 and on Saturday, October 21st, 2017.
This year the theme will be “Volunteering Today Protects Our Future.”
The event will start on Friday, October 20th, 2017 with a nature walk at 7:00am PT on Friday, October 20th, 2017 in Needles, California followed by a golf tournament at 8:00am PT at the Mojave Resort Golf Club, located at 9905 Aha Macav Parkway, in Laughlin, Nevada.
There will be a few culture workshops in the tribal gymnasium, located at 500 Merriman Avenue in Needles, California from 10:00am to 3:00pm PT and a luncheon will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm PT.
A Wahoo tournament will be held 4:00pm PT followed by girls bird dancing and boys bird singing group contest from 6:00pm to 9:00pm PT.
The celebration will continue on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 with the Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade.
The Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade is schedule to start at 10:00am PT along I Street, West Broadway, and D Street in Downtown Needles, California.
The Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade will be broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook beginning before 10:00am PT.
People wanting to enjoy the Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade should arrive early for good seats and good parking.
Streets will be closed during the Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade starting before 10:00am PT, including Front Street from the North K Street Underpass to H Street, I Street from Front Street to West Broadway, West Broadway from J Street to D Street, D Street from West Broadway to Front Street, and Front Street from C Street to A Street.
Motorists will be detoured onto Third Street from J Street to D Street around the closure.
After the Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade, the winners in the Fort Mojave Indian Days Parade will be announced immediately following the tribal council welcome at 12:00pm PT.
There will be entertainment in the Fort Mojave California Village Park, located at 500 Merriman Street in Needles, California, along with a women’s bird dancing and men’s bird singing group contest.
Also, a horseshoe tournament and fry bread eating contest sign-ups will be going on and shinny tournament team sign-ups will also be happening at Spirit Runners Park.
Starting at 2:00pm PT, the men’s and women’s tug-o-war competition will take place followed by men’s and women’s horseshoe tournament then later the shinny games in Spirit Runners Park, at the corner of Harrison Street and Merriman Street in Needles, California.
Kids games in the tribal park will begin at 1:00pm PT, entertainment will resume at 7:00pm PT, and youth, women and men’s peon tournament in Spirit Runners Park at 9:00pm PT.
The women’s bird dancing and men’s bird singing group contest will be held from 7:00pm to 10:00pm PT.
