Traffic Alert!!: Topock, AZ: Additional construction work begins on new roundabout.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.), motorists traveling in the area of Mohave County Route 1 (C.R. 1), the Golden Shores Parkway, and Oatman Highway in the Topock, Arizona and Golden Shores, Arizona area should be prepared for brief delays and intermittent lane closures starting from Monday, September 18th, 2017 until Friday, October 6th, 2017.
Construction will include drainage improvements in the northbound lanes along the intersection of Powell Lake Road and Golden Shores Parkway.
Crews will also be modifying the southbound section of the Golden Shores Parkway roundabout, returning to a 2 way road.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.), motorists will expect Golden Shores Parkway, both north- and southbound, will be closed for several hours at a time during the first two weeks while crews remove the existing asphalt and regrade the roadway
While temporary detours are in place, businesses will remain open in the construction area.
Construction work hours will be from 6:00am to 5:00pm MST Monday through Friday.
Motorists should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.), in 2015, Mohave County secured Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program construction funding for a roundabout at the intersection of County Route 1, Golden Shores Parkway, and Oatman Highway.
The project’s purpose is to improve the overall flow and access at the “Six Points Intersection” of Mohave County Route 1 (C.R. 1), Golden Shores Parkway, Powell Lake Road, and their intersections.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.), we works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors.

The additional construction works comes as some in the community are unhappy with the roundabout, including how long the project is taking and the design, and just weeks after monsoon storms caused a muddy mess next to the new roundabout.
On Friday, September 8th, 2017, road crews had to dig a new trench to drain away water next to the new roundabout after passing thunderstorms caused flooding caused flooding into several businesses that are located right next to the new roundabout.
ZachNews has learned that members of the Bullhead City Council will be discussing new roundabouts for their community during Bullhead City Council Meeting being held at 5:30pm MST on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 at 1255 Marina Boulevard in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Accounting to the Bullhead City Clerk, the roundabouts matter is listed under Agenda Item #11 under the subject “Other Business”.
