According to the United States Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.), a magnitude 7.1 earthquake has hit Raboso, Mexico at about 2:15pm ET on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017.

The earthquake was felt in Mexico City, Mexico where videos posted to social media showing the strong earthquake, including buildings collapsing and thousands of people fleeing from office buildings as they swayed.

At this moment, there are reports of deaths and injures in the earthquake as wall as rescues happening for trapped people in collapsed buildings.
Reports that electricity and cellphone service have been interrupted in many areas.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto was on a flight to Oaxaca when the earthquake struck.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto wrote in a tweet, “In flight to Oaxaca. Immediately return to Mexico City to attend the earthquake”.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott offered “thoughts and prayers of Texans” to Mexico and said the state would “continue to offer any support to aid Mexico in their time of need.”

United States of America President Donald Trump sent his support to Mexico in a tweet saying, “God bless the people of Mexico City. We are with you and will be there for you”.
This latest earthquake to hit Mexico comes less than 2 weeks after a magnitude 8.1 earthquake hit Mexico on Friday, September 8th, 2017 and left nearly 100 people dead.
The Associated Press is reporting that coincidentally, earlier on Tuesday, buildings across Mexico City, Mexico held earthquake drills to mark the anniversary of a massive Thursday, September 19th, 1985, earthquake that killed at least 9,500 people,
