News Update!!: Needles, CA: Latest Information: Semi truck crashes into a Buckeye, Arizona school bus along U.S. Highway 95.

ZachNews has the latest information regarding the semi truck crashes into a school bus from Buckeye, Arizona along U.S. Highway 95 near Needles, California on Thursday, September 28th, 2017.

According to the California Highway Patrol, shortly before 1:00pm PT on Thursday, September 28th, 2017, a school bus traveling northbound along U.S. Highway 95 stopped at a construction zone near mile marker 51 just 7 miles south of Needles, California.

The school bus had 30 students athletes and 4 adults, including the bus driver, from Buckeye Union High School District in Buckeye, Arizona heading to a volleyball game at Mohave High School in Bullhead City, Arizona.

As the school bus was stopped, a semi truck also traveling northbound along U.S. Highway 95 crashes into the back of the stopped school bus.

The force of the crash pushed the school bus into another semi truck that was in front of the school bus and also stopped at the construction zone.

First responders raced over to the crash location, including San Bernardino County Fire Department, Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department, Baker Emergency Medical Service, and the California Highway Patrol.

Before arriving at the crash location, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez captured on camera at least 3 ambulances passing by him heading northbound along U.S. Highway 95 with lights and sirens on.

A news helicopter from NBC affiliate KPNX Channel 12 flow to Needles, California and captured on camera aerial footage of the crash location.

According to the Buckeye Union High School District, a student was air lifted to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and 8 other students were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The remaining students were reportedly taken in another school bus to Colorado River Medical Center in Needles, California to be medically checked.

The Buckeye Union High School District began contacting the students athletes’ parents about the crash and posted the latest information on their website and Facebook page.

According to the Buckeye Union High School District, we have immediately dispatched another school bus so that students could be returned home this evening, and that parents of the students have been notified by school administration.

Reports that some parents began rushing over to the Needles, California area to check on their kids after learning about the crash on the news.

The crash closed both directions of U.S. Highway 95 from near the South Needles Compressor Station to Five Mile Road causing a long traffic jam of semi trucks and other vehicles.

Many motorist were being stopped far before the crash location near Monumental Pass Road by construction crews doing traffic control as other construction crews repaved and placed new lines along U.S. Highway 95.

Motorists stuck in that area watched as ambulances carrying the injured rush by them and were turned around to head towards Interstate 40 to get around the crash.

Tow truck crews arrived and began towing away the wrecked school bus and semi truck.

As a tow truck from A & G Towing towed the semi truck away, the side of their semi truck’s doors said “Singh Sahib Trucking”, which is a licensed and bonded freight shipping and trucking company running freight hauling business from Stockton, California.

As the wrecked school bus and semi truck were towed away, both directions of U.S. Highway 95 at mile marker 51 were reopened.

The volleyball game at Mohave High School was reportedly cancelled because of the crash.

In a statement, the Colorado Union High School District said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Buckeye players, staff and families who are affected by the accident. We’ve reached out to our colleagues in Buckeye and have offered to help in any way possible.”

The Colorado Union High School District said that in a spirit of camaraderie, the Mohave High School volleyball team picked up pizza and sub sandwiches, and delivering them to Needles, California for all of the students athletes from Buckeye, Arizona.

In a statement, the Buckeye Union High School District said, “The Buckeye Union High School District is very thankful and appreciative of the cooperation and support received from the Colorado River Union High School District, local law enforcement and emergency response personnel.

According to the California Highway Patrol, all of the students have been released and have been reunited with their parents.

The crash happened 7 miles south of Needles, California, a small town along historic Route 66 and the Colorado River.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels tells ZachNews, “I am hopeful that any injuries are minor and those involved can recover quickly. My prayers are with them and their families.

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson posted on his Facebook page, “Prayer’s to all the students and families involved. Thankfully no fatalities or major injuries!“.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a school bus and a semi truck have crashed along U.S. Highway 95, at mile marker 51 south of Five Mile Road, in Needles, California.

ZachNews has learned from the California Highway Patrol that a semi truck smashed into the back of the school bus that was stopped at a construction zone, which then the school bus collided into another semi truck that was in front of the school bus trapping the bus driver.

The California Highway Patrol said that between 30 to 33 students athletes and 4 adults, including the bus driver, from Buckeye Union High School in Buckeye, Arizona were heading to a volleyball game at Mohave High School in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Reports that a people who was on the school bus was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

According to the Buckeye Union High School District, a student was air lifted to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and 8 other students were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The remaining students were reportedly taken in another school bus to Colorado River Medical Center in Needles, California to be medically checked.

The Buckeye Union High School District said it is in the process of contacting parents.

BUHSD immediately dispatched another bus so that students could be returned home this evening. Parents of the students have been notified by school administration. U.S. Highway 95 is closed in both directions from before Five Mile Road to Highway 62 until tow crews clean up and tow away the wrecked vehicles.

Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy magazine, has died on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 at the Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, California.

In a statement, Playboy Enterprises Inc. said, “Hugh M. Hefner, the American icon who in 1953 introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognizable American global brands in history, peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones. He was 91 years old.

Hugh Hefner, also known to millions simply as “Hef”, was born on Friday, April 9th, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois.

Hugh Hefner went to schools in the Chicago, Illinois area before joining the United States Army, attending the Chicago Art Institute and graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in psychology.

After working first as a copywriter for “Esquire”, Hugh Hefner decided to start his own publication and raised $8,000 from 45 investors to launch “Playboy” in December 1953.
