Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Abandoned residential structure fire on La Mesa Way.

An abandoned residential structure is on fire on the 400 block of La Mesa Way near Acoma Street in Needles, California.

The fire started at the abandoned residential structure at around 1:30pm PT on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017.

San Bernardino Country Fire Department along with Mohave Valley Fire Department and Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department is on scene battling the fire at the abandoned residential structure.

According to the Mohave Valley Fire Department, San Bernardino ME32, Mohave Valley E811, Division 805, Fort Mojave E911, E921, Bat 9, Rehab 817 were on scene for this fire, and Bullhead City E 751 moved up to Fort Mohave, Arizona for district coverage.

ZachNews has learned that a deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was down the street when he saw the thick black smoke.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy rushed to the scene, went inside to check if anybody was inside the building, and from what he could see, nobody was inside.

La Mesa Way as well as Acoma Street from D Street to C Street and D Street from Acoma Street to Downey Street is closed.

The video was filmed by the Drews News Channel from the intersection of La Mesa Way and Acoma Street showing the abandoned residential structure fire.

Cause of the fire at the abandoned residential structure is under investigation and investigators are on scene.

These are pictures taken by ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez of the abandoned residential structure on Friday, June 16th, 2017 before the fire.

These pictures were submitted to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels and to Needles Code Enforcement about the property and the trash that littered the area.

Residents have seen not only illegal dumping going on, by also squatters inside the building for years.

ZachNews has learned that the property was in the process of being cleaned up as early as Friday, August 18th, 2017.
