San Bernardino, CA: Fast food restaurant damaged in “2 Alarm Fire”.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, at 12:26pm PT on Friday, March 24th, 2017, firefighters were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at 9th Street and Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino, California.

Crews arrived on scene within 3 minutes to find smoke and fire showing from the roof of a single story fast food restaurant.

Due to the heavy smoke and fire, a 2nd Alarm Fire was quickly called to bring additional manpower and equipment to the scene.

Firefighters initiated a coordinated fire attack using crews inside and on the roof to limit fire spread and gain the upper hand.

During offensive fire attack, crews found a large HVAC unit that was compromised, posing a danger to crews inside.

A “Life Safety Alert” was called notifying all crews on the foreground of the hazard.

Working around the hazardous areas, crews were able to knock the fire down in 40 minutes.

Due to the knockdown of the fire, some units from the 2nd Alarm Fire were canceled.

Damage to the fast food restaurant was extensive to both the inside, roof area and expensive restaurant equipment.

Firefighters will remain on scene in to the afternoon to check for hot spots and work with the business to salvage items from the fire building.

No injuries were reported to civilians or fire department personal.

The fast food restaurant was operational at the time of the fire, however when units arrived all persons were evacuated.

At least 7 Engines, 4 Ladder trucks, 2 Chief Officers, a Safety Officer and a Fire Investigator responded to the fire.

Firefighters from Loma Linda Fire Department and Colton Fire Department assisted with the fire.

Rialto Fire Department and San Manuel Fire Department assisted with station coverage in Division 6 to ensure the 911 needs were met while crews worked the 2 Alarm Fire.

Damage estimates are still on-going, however the business was sustained heavy damage.

A fire investigator is on scene to work on the cause and origin of the fire.

    1. Hello Kristy, the press release didn’t say, but from the pictures, it appears to be a fast food drive-thur restaurant that served chicken, hot wings, burgers, and sandwiches there.
