San Bernardino, CA: Vacant commercial structure sustains heavy damage in “2 Alarm Fire”.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, at 10:44pm PT on Monday, March 13th, 2017, firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Division 6 were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 250 Block of East Highland in San Bernardino, California.
San Bernardino County Fire Department crews arrived within 4 minutes of dispatch to find a single-story “A Frame” Restaurant well involved with heavy fire showing from multiple sides.
Due to the heavy fire involvement and exposures, a “2nd Alarm” was struck, bringing additional crews to the scene.
Fire crews mounted a defensive attack utilizing master streams to knock down the fire.
Fire crews also encountered power poles involved with fire and power lines down in the vicinity of the fire building.
Edison responded to the fire to assist with shutting off power to the affected building & power poles.
San Bernardino County Fire Department Crews knocked the fire down in approximately 20 minutes, limiting damage to the fire building.
After knocking down the fire, crews stayed on scene for 2 additional hours to overhaul and confirm the fire was out.
No injuries to either citizens or firefighters were reported.
The building, vacant at the time of the fire, sustained heavy damage throughout.
Damage Estimates to the structure and contents are at $100,000.
A total of 8 Engines, 3 Truck Companies, 3 Chief Officers, 2 Fire Investigators responded to the “2 Alarm Fire”.
Rialto Fire Department responded with an Engine and a Truck company.
Colton Fire Department, San Manuel Fire Department, and Loma Linda Fire Department assisted with station coverage in San Bernardino, California while units were committed.
