News Update!!: Needles, CA: Westbound lanes of Interstate 40 are slowly reopening after major traffic accident.
Lanes along westbound Interstate 40 are slowly reopening after a semi truck has crashed into several vehicles near the Needles Agriculture Inspection Station in Needles, California at around 1:16pm PT on Thursday, March 9th, 2017.
California Highway Patrol as well as firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Station 32 responded to the traffic accident.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi truck and at least 5 vehicles are involved in the traffic accident and the semi truck is hanging off the roadway at the Palo Verde Wash Bridge.
According to Eric Sherwin, Duty Public Information Officer with the San Bernardino County Fire Department, at least 2 patient with minor injuries were transported to Colorado River Medical Center in Needles, California.
All westbound lanes of Interstate 40 before the Needles Agriculture Inspection Station were closed and traffic was backed up close to the Park Moabi Road exit.
Motorists were seen using County Route 1 near Topock, Arizona to Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley, Arizona as a detour to get to Needles, California.
The cause into the traffic accident is under investigation.
