Storm Watch 2017: San Bernardino County, CA: Rainy desert, snowy mountains, and more storms on the way.

People were woken up to rain in the high desert and snow in the mountains in San Bernardino County, California from a passing storm on Thursday, January 19th, 2017.

The storm brought a nice cool rain to the normally dry and hot desert community of Needles, California.

The rain had roadways wet around the community leaving motorists to drive more safely not to get into any accidents.

As the storm moved out, a beautiful rainbow appeared to the east of Needles, California.

Well people in Needles, California enjoyed the rain and a rainbow, people living in the mountain community of Running Springs, California were enjoying a winter wonderland of snow.

But with the wonderful snowy conditions brings dangerous road conditions for motorists not use to driving in icy and snowy conditions.

Authorities are telling travelers that snow tire chains are required for vehicles heading into the mountains.

As the storm left California and moved east into Arizona, at least 2 more storms are on the way from the northwest California and will soon be moving into southern California, including San Bernardino County, California.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy showers and thunderstorms is forecast with the second storm on Friday, January 20th, 2017.

The second storm’s forecast increases the threat for flash flooding along the mountains below the 5,500 foot elevation and burn areas of San Bernardino County, California.

The National Weather Service has issued Flash Flood Watch for San Bernardino County, California from 7:00am to 7:00pm PT on Friday, January 20th, 2017 and a Winter Storm Warning has been issued until 6:00am PT on Saturday, January 21st, 2017.

The third storm behind the second storm is expected to move into the San Bernardino County, California area as earliest as Sunday, January 22nd, 2017.

The third storm will bring 2-3 inches of rain and possible flooding in the burn areas of San Bernardino County, California.

If you’re planning to be outdoors in the high desert area of San Bernardino County, California or plan to take a trip to the mountains of San Bernardino County, California, please make sure to have an emergency survival kit ready; including a first aid kit, bring extra warm clothing, blankets, boots, rechargeable flashlight, food and water; drive carefully and stay away from flooded roadways; make sure to fully charge up cellular phone and bring an extra cellular phone battery also fully charged; and make sure to bring your snow tire chains if driving up into the mountains.
